Another sendmail problem.
Hi,
I was getting a large amount of mail that was being deferred with the error message: "Can't assign requested address". I can't find an explanation of this message anywhere. It happened 5500 times yesterday. The problem cleared up when I booted the box, but it's happened twice in the last week. It happens with incomming and outgoing mail.
Thanks,

I'd rather be on my boat...

Re: Another sendmail problem.
Go through your /etc/mail/sendmail.cf and your /etc/hosts files. Crosscheck these server ip address with the one in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf. It seems you are having an Ip address problem. If you are using DHLC try and reserver this IP for your server.

Re: Another sendmail problem.
There is a resolution problem somewhere. Are the bounced mail messages to the same address? If so, that will make your search a lot easier. If not, how many to go thru?
