Does anyone know if apache altroot.sh utility MOVES or COPIES an apache installation?
The HP documentation seem to be mixed. The iPlanet-Apache Migration Guide, Section 8.6, Cluster Mgmt indicates it's a move while Section 8.10, Multiple Web Server Instances indicates it's a copy.
Can an apache installation be copied and how?

Solution
I have used just a tar backup and restore tpo copy an apache installation. You only need to make a few adjust to the httpd.conf file for the new host if copying to another machine.
If you are trying to get two versions on the same machine, it is easier to just have two different httpd.conf files and use the second ne with "httpd -f newconfig.conf"

Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"

Re: apache altroot.sh utility
Hello Anna,
Enclosed, please find the link to FAQs on Web servers for HP-UX and refer Q7. It says that altroot.sh is used to move HP-UX Web server suite to a different directory.

HTH.
