asynchronous DNS & stub resolver
hello:
Does any body know what asynchronous dns & stub resolver means. For some web server configuration, such as sun one web server, enable this setting would get a better performance. But I want to know how it works.
Thank you..

Re: asynchronous DNS & stub resolver
I believe asynchronous dns means it can handle multiple queries at the same time.
Stub resolver - the resolver is just a set of library routines linked into programs (like telnet and ftp)...it has the smarts to put together a query, wait for an answer, resend the query if it isn't answered...and thats about it. Whereas other resolvers can do things like build up a cache of queries already retrieved from name servers...

Re: asynchronous DNS & stub resolver
async DNS is a way to handle multiple DNS requests in a supposedly more efficent manner, because they don't have to be resolved in the order in which they were requested.

Re: asynchronous DNS & stub resolver
here is what I found
"Synchronous DNS is a way of doing a lookup for a machine name that will block all threads of execution in an application until a request for the reply has been received."
Thank you for your help!!
