Audio Control?

How do I control the system volume on HP-UX 11 with CDE? (I'm not referring to just the "beep" volume controlled with the Style Manager.) If you do a "man audio" it mentions programs like AudioCP (Audio Control Panel) and audio_editor, but these are audio tools from the HP VUE days, not CDE. Apparently they aren't part of the HP-UX Core system anymore. You have to buy some product called MPower/Web.

Is there a way to control system sound without buying anything? If it matters, I'm using the HP utility "/opt/audio/send_sound" to play the files.

Re: Audio Control?

justre- read your question : the answer to your actual qu is No : see MJFKBRC00002669

It advises external speakers etc can be controlled by the mpower product, it does not list any alternatives and I am not aware of any either.

Re: Audio Control?

Hi Blake,

Now I see I'm missing the speaker icon on my CDE desktop.

Apparantly you are right about Mpower/web, but I do not think you need to buy anything (apart from the apps. CDs media)

I found it on CD3 (June 2000 application):
Just did swinstall -s /cdrom_path AudioClient and it installed (It selected some Mpower stuff as prerequisite and came with a strange error - have to check that out)

But the AudioCP and audioeditor is there now - located in /opt/wt/bin/..
In a world without fences - who needs Gates ?
