AUTO File Question

I have a question. What is the difference between "hpux -lq" and hpux -lq(;0)/stand/vmunix" option in AUTO FIle.

The reason I am asking this question is that I have replaced a failed disk in root volume group. The failed hard disk is the secondary boot disk in the vg00. I created the boot block on it with -lq option while the primary boot disk has -lq(;0)/stand/vmunix staus.

Can some one give me soime idea

Re: AUTO File Question

HI,

The ISL knows where the kernel is, so these should all work. I use the "hpux -lq".
# mkboot -a "hpux -lq" /dev/rdsk/cxtydz
"hpux -lq"
"hpux -lq /stand/vmunix"
"hpux -lq (;0)/stand/vmunix"

Re: AUTO File Question

Do you refer to

"hpux -lq" is enough, but even this is debatable - some like it, some not.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
