Auto Port Aggregation

Hi ,
Auto Port Aggregation could act as a software load balancer between the ports that are configured for APA in the same server ,

could it also be used as a load balancer between 2 HP UX servers , ?

Re: Auto Port Aggregation

Nope,
aggregation is only at server level.

See more here - http://www.hp.com/products1/serverconnectivity/adapters/apa_prodbrief.html

Re: Auto Port Aggregation

Hi,

APA can be configured within server only. It can be configured in two ways. Active and passive.

Passive is like lan monitor. Primary will be active at any point of time and the alternate interface will keep monitor the primary. if primary goes down, alternative will continue to provide the service.

Active is for load balancing and high throughput. All the interface in that group will be active to provide high bandwith and load balancing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Re: Auto Port Aggregation

Products like F5's Big IP used with clustered hosts and applications are what you probably need to do something like you are talking about.
