auto port aggregation

I am doing the fresh auto port aggregation configuration. While adding Lan0 to the APA I get the error message "protocol already logged on port 0". I suspect because I have already assigned Ip address to lan0.But that was mandatory at the time of os installation. Now how can I come out of this.

Re: auto port aggregation

You probably need to unconfigure lan0 first.
Make sure you are working on the console to prevent connection problems.

Hope this helps!

Re: auto port aggregation

An easy way to do this is to use SAM and perform the unconfigure action on the desired NIC.
You may also remove the configuration from /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file and unplump the interface.

Hope this helps!

Re: auto port aggregation

there is no option to unconfigure in sam.for nic the options available are to modify,disable,delete..I cannot remove ip addresses as it is mandatory.

Re: auto port aggregation

"Delete" will unconfigure the interface.

But make sure you do this on the console!

Hope this helps!

Re: auto port aggregation

and if you want to "just try it" and have things revert on a reboot you can always do:

ifconfig unplumb

which will "unlog" the IP and ARP saps from the link and should make APA happy
