Autoboot

Hi,
My station computer (with HPUX 10.20) cannot reboot after a improper shutdown.

Boot device error: reading utility into memory
Auto-execute file is inconsistent. Autoboot aborted.

Is somebody can help me to fix this problem.

Is it harddisk failure or RAM dammaged.

Re: Autoboot

The error message you got appears to point to a bad LIF area on your disk. You can check how bad the LIF area is by interrupting the boot sequence, boot from the primary boot path. Select to interact with the ISL. Once at the ISL do a listing of the files in the LIF area. There should be at least ILS, AUTO and HPUX. You can attempt to boot from HPUX and if that is successful recreated the AUTO file once the boot is complete. Otherwise you will have to get the support CD and use that to repair the LIF area.

Re: Autoboot

Sounds like the lif area of your boot disk is bad. Do you have a mirror of the boot disk (hopefully with a lif area)? If you do, then try booting off the mirror disk.
