Backup Solution for HP-UX server

Hi,

I am running HP-UX B.11.11 64 bit on
9000/800/rp4440 server. I have 7GB data on this server which I have to take backup daily.

Currently I am taking 7GB backup to another HP-UX box using SCP every week.

Please tell me what are the possible ways of taking daily backup of 7GB data on this server,
1: daily backup without tape ?
2: With Tape , pls explain how we can go for this and which backup device we can attach to this box. ?

You can use fbackup. you can create backup in file system.

with tape you can use DDS, DLT and ultrium. calclulate how much data it will be after 1/2 year. if it is below 20 Gb then use DDS

Hi Khashru,

I am new to HP-UX. Please tell me which backup device I need to order as I don't have any backup device connected to that box. I need to take daily backup.. how can I schedule it using fbackup ?

If I want to continue with SCP from one server to another server , how can i schedule it for daily backup...

hello GSB

if you need schedule backup, you can used Data protector software, with robotic tape enclosure. ( like MSL series ). you can manage your backup tape and the schedules.

I think you must contact HP representative to accomodate your needed.
