Re: backup

Hello,

Install the ignite utility which has the make_tape_recovery command, after installation issue the following commmand:

#make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vgxx -I -v -a /dev/rmt/omn

Where vgxx is your Volume Group, you can add if you have vg00, vg01. Refer to man make_tape_recovery.

Download it from here:
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

Thanks and good luck.
Should you require any more info. please drop a line.

Re: backup

Just a minor correction. It should be /dev/rmt/0mn ;^).

Thanks again.

Re: backup

Make sure you shut down all open databases, Oracle, Informix, etc prior to making the image.

Certain database programs do not support being imaged in this fashion when using raw disk partitions. Software AG's adabase comes to mind.
