Backups fail

Hello all,
BR_backups fail. We can do a sam interactive backup and a tar to the device. We swapped the tape drive with the same model (HP DAT 72). When we run our cron for backup and reboot. Check the /var/sam/cron/tmp file and the database has shutdown and backup script has started. We can see the four FBXXXX processes start up in the processes (top) and then it just hangs. Is there a way to see what part of the backup process is hanging or what device/file is hanging. Even if we kill the FBXXXX processes the system will not completely shut down to reboot. The other system are working. Stymied...
Thanks in Advance

Re: Backups fail

Hello Arun,

Thanks for the response. We checked the logs and found some (5) errors referring to the hard drive. FSCK did not catch it. We will try to move the OS and data to another system and see what happens. We know as a fact that the backups were running for a week without a hitch then it started hanging. Again thanks for your response.
