Base VxVM 3.5 with 11i Now Supports Rootabiltity and Mirroring!
Finally had the chance to test out the JUN2003 HPUX11i (PARISC) Release to test out rootability of VxVM -- and it indeed works seamlessly. And I finally was able to verify that indeed I can MIRROR rootdg with just the base that's included in HPUX 11i. So MirrorDisk/UX is no longer needed then since my other disks are already protected on my SAN/EVA/HDS and dual pathing is via SecurePath ... So it is just VxFS (OJFS) that I will really need... I have yet to test simulating recoverability, Ignite and all...
BTW, here are VxOutputs from the N-Class (rp7405?) install that I just did:
# bdf|more
Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/rootvol
1048576 79760 961304 8% /
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/standvol
295024 28272 237248 11% /stand
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/varvol
4194304 146824 4016432 4% /var
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/usrvol
3145728 891624 2236544 29% /usr
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/tmpvol
1048576 2712 1037760 0% /tmp
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/optvol
2097152 1005311 1023613 50% /opt
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/homevol
1048576 2304 1038112 0% /home
Just the Base is installed:
# vxlicense -p
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: No valid license installed
And attached is vxprint output to show that I;ve got all my volumes mirrored...
On another system, I've got both LVM up -- LVM managing the system volume group and VXVM managing the rest (SAN and Array disks...)
