Boot from Tape Device

Hi!
I created a recovery tape for my RP-7405 HP-UX 11.11 server using "make_tape_recovery" in a C1537A DDS3 Data Compression Tape Drive. Then I tried test my tape booting capability using the hardware path given in SAM for my tape drive. This was the output:
{

BCH Directed Boot Path: 1/0/1/0/0/1/0.30

What I'm doing wrong? Also, the "SEA" (search for boot device) command dont'n show any tape drive path. How may I accomplish this task?
Thanks in advanced for any help! ... Jose.

Re: Boot from Tape Device

That path looks a little odd. Are you sure it really ends in "0.30"?

You could also try searching with "sea ipl" to see if that showed your tape drive.

Re: Boot from Tape Device

Hi Jose,

I agree with PEte - HW path seems wrong.
As he suggests, do a sea ipl & boot the device listed as sequential access - that'll be the tape drive.

Re: Boot from Tape Device

The path seems to e to long for a rp7405 and ...0.30 can't be correct.

If possible run ODE -> mapper2

or from the boot menu

Main Menu: Enter command or menu > in all

and have a look at the section

I/O MODULE INFORMATION

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
