Boot Is Blocked

I just installed HWEnable11i on my hp-ux 11.i box (rp8420). When the install completed it rebooted. Now it is not coming back up. I will type out what the screen looks like(attachment too large). I need help in getting this box up... secondaly I'm curious what caused this because we have rebooted it several times before.

This box has two partitions. One is up and running a live hospital application and can not be brought down. The other (Partition 0) is the one I'm having problems with.

Thanks for the help.

Scott

Cells have been reset (Boot Is Blocked (BIB) is not set).

Re: Boot Is Blocked

I always installed Gold Patch bundles along with HWE patches. Did you do that?? What does HP say about this?? Can you boot into single user mode?? OR into old kernel.

Re: Boot Is Blocked

We were given an order to do the installs.
1). BUNDLE11i
2). HWEnable11i
3). GOLDQPK11
4). DIAGNOSTICS

When tried to install BUNDLE11i and it said all patches were already installed so we moved on to HEWnable11i.

Re: Boot Is Blocked

Scott,

if you go on the console and you got in the MP menus and select VFP (Virtual Front Panel) for the partition that doesn't boot.. what does it say?

If the BIB is really in question here, all you could do is simply, from the CM, do a BOot of your partition and it should be fixed.

But I have a feeling that something did not reset properly and your VFP could probably show it.
Cooperation is doing with a smile what you have to do anyhow.

Sorry for the format, but this is what it says.

Re: Boot Is Blocked

OK so far I've done a bo to boot the partition (didn't work) and did an rs to reset the partition (didn't work).

Re: Boot Is Blocked

vparreset will reset a partition given with -p option. You can also use vparmgr for this.

Re: Boot Is Blocked

the vpar* commands are not available. I don't know if it matters but we are on an rp8420 running HP-UX 11.i

Re: Boot Is Blocked

After speaking to HP Support, it appears this is a hardware issue. Could be a CPU or Cell Board gone bad.

Thanks to all who responded.
