Booting from Ignite server
I've a question booting from lan. We have 2 Ignite servers on the same subnet. When I write in a client
search lan install I get the answer
> P0 8/16/6.0 LAN Module
I thougth I should get 2 Ignite servers.
In addition, when I try:
boot lan.nn.n.nn.n install where nn.n.nn.nn is the IP address of client's ignite server I get an error message, but if I try:
boot lan.mm.m.mm.m install where mm.m.mm.mm is the IP address of the other ignite server it works properly.
Any idea??
Thanks in advance.
Alex.

Re: Booting from Ignite server
is the hardware address for your lan card, not the address of your ignite server(s)
you are doing it correctly by specifying the ip address of the server you want to use. Both should work if they are both ignite servers. what is the exact error message with the one that fails?

Re: Booting from Ignite server
It sounds like the ignite server that does not work is not configured correctly.
On that ignite server can you push software instead of pulling from the client? There is a GUI on the server to remotely ignite clients if they are already booted and have an IP on the network.

Re: Booting from Ignite server
thanks for your answers. I fixed the problem.
Edward, I know 8/16/6.0 is the hardware address for the lan interface. I wrote boot lan.server_ip_address install.
John, the document "Ignite-UX Administration Guide" (B2355-90738) says "To search for servers type the following: search lan install" (page 60).
The problem was that the Ignite server had no IP address in the /opt/ignite/lbin/instl_bootd file
Thanks.
Alex.

Re: Booting from Ignite server
/opt/ignite/lbin/instl_bootd is a binary file...

Re: Booting from Ignite server
SEA LAN
I do recall seeing LAN.I.P show up in a search.
IN either case
BO LAN.I.P.A.D.D INSTALL
should work if you can remember the ip.
As you mention just your lan HW path is showing up, not the ignite server IP.
Later,
Bill
