BSD printing
I've got some canon imagerunner 330s and 3300 printer/copiers printing as remote devices because they support BSD printing. However some sort of default causes them to try and print 8.5 x 11 as though it were 11 x 17 consequently cutting off the right 1/4 of everything. It's not the lf/cr problem because the banner page clearly states the page size as 11 x 17. Anyone know how to force BSD remote printing to 8.5 x11?

Re: BSD printing
Look at the default paper size on both printers. If it is set to 11x17 then you need to either change the default on the printers or imbed the form size escape sequence in the interface file on the HPUX box. Personally I would only default the printers as a last resort/work around.
Good luck

If it has wheels or a skirt, you can't afford it.

Re: BSD printing
(HP-UX) Remote Printers assume that the options are handled on the remote *system*. Because in this case there is no remote system, but only a *printer* *simulating* a remote system, the options have to be handled by the printer and they probably are not.
If this printer understands PostScript or/and (HP) PCL and is or can be made (HP) JetDirect compatible, then it is best to use the JetDirect software (whatever it is called these days) instead of a rmodel/rlp(1M) Remote Printer.

Re: BSD printing
For anyone who might search on this topic later, Frank has it correct. It looks like I'll have to go rattle cages at canon to get the answer since it does indeed appear to be the source of the problem.
