I have been trying to connect to the HP-UX Porting and Archive Centre (Utah mirror) for a couple of days now. Wisconsin is down and has a splash page for this Utah is consistantly giving me 10060 Connection timed out.
Can anybody else get to it?
Or does anyone know the story?
Note: I can get to the UK site, but would like to know what's up.
Easter is coming and I'm in the mood to give free bunnies. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Kel

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
Wisconsin has been down for quite a while. I've given up on that mirror.
I generally use either Utah or the original in the UK. http://hpux.connect.org.uk

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
I was starting to pull hair.
I'm having intermittant problems with ITRC connection with 10060's and 404's, but Utah is consistent. (I know some is on my end.)
Case in point, I had to submit this post 4 times to get it to go.
I've never used it, is the UK mirror identical to the Utah? I was a bit worried about language support UK english vs. US.
Thanks,

So I start using UK
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/
I haven't noticed any differences between it and Utah so far.

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
I'm over at the UK site and have it bookmarked as well.
I sent an email to the UK site asking if they knew anything. I'm curious now.
With a little luck they might actually answer.
If they do I'll reply to this post.
Thanks again,
Kel

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
I have now run tests. My test results are in line with JRF's post.
My method of access has never been bookmark. I have software.hp.com bookmarked and clicked the Public Domain link.
Perhaps HP should make an inquiry as to the status of the porting server and change their link to a site thats up more than its down.

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
Thinking that the UK centre might not know/care what the heck I'm talking about, I went to the main site of the of the utah mirror (which was up by the way) and sent an email to their webmaster, we'll see if I get anything back.
Now, about your points, I tried to post them 4 times but the submit button doesn't seem to be functioning fully.
If your points didn't show up, I'll try again later.
Thanks,
Kel

We should be giving you points for your efforts in trying to resolve the "Utah Issue". At the very least, here's a thankyou: Thanks!

I'd settle for 3 points.
Then I become a purple pointy person!
Oooo... so close and yet so far. :-p
Haven't heard anything, but I'll let everyone know if I do.

If you would like, simply reply to this thread and you'll have yourself a nice new hat:

I checked - you haven't replied to it yet, so it's perfectly legitimate and I'd be proud to be the one to put your over the top.

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
I just had a thought, if anyone is interested, here is the email address of the utah site web master. maybe if a number of us are interested and email them, they'll either work on it or give us an answer.
Can I entice anyone with a bunny for a response? I'm okay with a little light bribery. ;)
webmaster@cs.utah.edu
Maybe they'll be more inclined to do something if they know (hear from) there are many people that depend on them.

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
This not an "official" cs.utah.edu site, but it should be up...although it
was down a few weeks ago. The person who maintains it has been notified
and hopefully it'll be back up soon.
AFAIK, he plans to keep the mirror running.

Thanks for the update.
Here's your first bunny.
Treat him kind, may he be fruitful and multiply. ;)

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
Honestly, have you ever heard of a bunny that wasn't fruitful and didn't multiply? We may need to encourage, maybe even cajole but we can hook Jason on the forums - I just know it!

http://hpux.cs.utah.edu
still not working!
so, i've updated my favourites to http://hpux.connect.org.uk
just wondering if the contents of those sites listed above are different...
hopefully, we won't find other mirror sites "closing down".
Best Regards

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
Why HPUX Archive sites are down??
It is simple!! hardware problem.
Wisconsin went down more than a year ago, because of hardware problem.
Utah went down about three weeks ago and it came back up again a week ago, It was functional for about three days and It went down last Tue.
It is the same problem for all other site that are not functional and even most of the functional one.
If HP doesn't supply some of these sites with more recent machine, you will soon see more site will go down.
Nearly all these sites are using ancient machine (12 -15 years old) to mirror the HPUX Archive. This the exact reason that we can not offer more binary for more platforms.
If anyone has anymore query, you can send me email:
lavasani@connect.org.uk
Thanks to all of you
Mehdi

Re: Bunnies for Porting Centre help
By the way, that hat looks absolutely fabulous!
I got this reply from Christopher Strong at cs.utah.edu (presumably, he's the webmaster?):
"The person who maintains this server is not currently in, and the rest of us don't want to mess with the machine. Hopefully when he arrives he can bring it back up.
-Chris"
So, the answer appears to be "maybe someday."
