cannot remove patch???
hi experts,
here's the problem...
i installed some patches because of some problems about an application upgrade...then i moved them back..(exactly two patches..these are:
PHCO_23684 and PHCO_22924
the second one was installed in dec.) i think...i removed both of them with swremove and they disapperaed from the swlist output...but here's what happened: #what /usr/lib/libc.1 (thats the library we are dealing on)...
/usr/lib/libc.1:
PATCH-PHCO_22924 for 10.20; for 10.30, 11.x compatibility libc.1_ID@@/main/r10dav/libc_dav/libc_dav_cpe//1
/ux/core/libs/libc/shared_pa1/libc.1_ID
Dec 11 2000 04:53:40
***********************************************
by the way,the machine is rebooted...now,what does that mean???the system doesnt see the patch but the application still uses it,even after reboot...here's is another output from the acceptance machine(the one i have been talking about was the test machine)...
what /var/adm/sw/patch/PHCO_22924/usr/lib/libc.1
/var/adm/sw/patch/PHCO_22924/usr/lib/libc.1:
PATCH-PHCO_16723 for 10.20; for 10.30, 11.x compatibility libc.1_ID@@/main/r10dav/libc_dav/libc_dav_cpe/8
/ux/core/libs/libc/shared_pa1/libc.1_ID
Jan 19 1999 13:11:48
**********************************************
this machine is in the same sw level and i didnot remove PHC0_22924 yet...(there is no patch PHCO_16723 in swlist output)
**********************************************
any idea???
regards...

Re: cannot remove patch???
hi there,
i just solved the problem and wanted to share it with you...
the problem is that the output of my what command just shows the strings embedded in the libc.1 file...when issuing the command
#strings libc.1
i got the same output and i tested it on a couple of HPUX servers(10.20/11.00) and they all produced the same output regardless of having the asc. patch...
in fact the problem was an segmantation fault when trying to implement our new sw kernel(that made me go the wrong way about patches), and i fixed this with increasing the maxdsiz kernel parameter...
thx to all...
