cd writer backup
The cd writer I have is 'YAMAHA'. I can use it to write files in any other directories not usr4 by speed 24X. The error message is as the following:

cdrecord: fifo had 567 puts and 535 gets.
cdrecord: fifo was 45 times empty and 2 times full, min fill

The confused thing is that I can use 'YAMAHA' to write sucessfully by speed 4X in 'usr4' directory, and I can also get the file to be written by speed 24X if I move it to other directory.
Thanks!

Re: cd writer backup
There's not enough information about your computer and the (potentially) thousands of other things it is doing or the disks and what other things are going on.
CDrecord does not take advantage of the new technology to prevent buffer underflows so you need a fast computer, zero activity and no retries on the disks.
The simplest solution is to record at the slowest speed.
Bill Hassell, sysadmin
