CDE customisation (image, bluescreen, profile source)

still on the window manager theme...
3 questions in one I suppose:

1: how to create the pixmap image format for
replacing the default CDE image.
What file to modify to replace the image.

2: The Bluescreen (no pun intended) after login
contains the copyrights etc.. how can I
modify this screen so it comes up with for
example " If you screwed up, Call Bill @ 555-12345"

3: Still having problems sourcing my profile although DTSOURCEPROFILE is true.
Do I need to change some . profile aswell?

(I did know how to do this at one stage Alex! ;)

Bill
It works for me (tm)

Re: CDE customisation (image, bluescreen, profile source)

Bill are you calling my name in vain ? ;)

1./etc/dt/config/C/Xresources : Dtlogin*logo*bitmapFile :

2. Create a file called 0020.motd in /etc/dt/config/Xsession.d/

Put the following in the file.
#!/usr/bin/ksh
dtstart_hello[0]="/usr/dt/bin/dthello -file /etc/motd &"

Make the file executable. Put message "blah blah" in etc/motd.

3. If yor .profiles not being sourced within a CDE/terminal session try : dtterm -ls .....any better ? or vi $HOME/.Xdefaults : dtterm*loginShell : True ?

and to save you asking : the screenlock logo can be changed too : /usr/dt/app-defaults/C/Dtsession : Dtsession*lockImageName :

all the best Alex

Re: CDE customisation (image, bluescreen, profile source)

Thanks Alex,

I kinda guessed you'd answer!

On an aside from this do you know about the gnome window manager being a supported window manager.. I heard that it will be optional to use gnu and cde in 11i 700 series installs.
(my 700s have only a 1.0G disk 100M RAM, so even getting 11.0 on is a difficult task)

Re: CDE customisation (image, bluescreen, profile source)

Hi Bill,

No I haven't heard that rumour ... I have 11.i installed and CDE is still the default. However I have heard Sun maybe moving towards KDE support on Solaris later in the year but this is just a rumour too at the moment.

I certainly hope both hpux and solaris move towards this ...... I'll get something new to sink my teeth into.

Perhaps someone else from the Graphics Labs or WTEC maybe able to substantiate this ? ........ Anyone ???
