Re: CDE Login
Before seeing more complicated things check that the system can resolve his own name properly with nslookup.
Best regards.

Re: CDE Login
Check that the file /etc/hosts has at least two entries one for the name of the system and the other for th loopback address.
See the file /var/dt/Xerrors for any important message
Run the script /usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt
Hope this help.

Re: CDE Login
check in /var/dt/Xerrors
and run /usr/bin/X11/X :0 from the command line what errors or results do you get .....
I'm wondering if this may be a problem with mouse or KB or device files ..... running X :0 with hopefully isolate this a bit ... fyi graphics device files maybe recreated using rmsf
/dev/*crt* followed by insf -evd framebuf.
If X :0 works you'll get/see a grey mesh screen and cross hairs , kill it will a CTRL SHIFT BREAK.The problem is likely to be CDE .... try running the cde diagnostic -> /usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt and get back to me ....
also the Xserver is core dumping can you run file core please ? incidentally what patch level are you running at, O/s and is either ACE or the Graphics Technical computing bundle installed on this w.s ?
