cde problem - workspace manager is crashing
Hi Guys,
I have this problem on CDE. OS is hpux 11, machine is c3700. The workspace manager crashes and then the workspaces appear on top of each other and nothing can be selected. Sometimes the screen went blank and only the mouse pointer can be see and hanging. So you need to reboot to make it work again. If it doesn't hang you need to restart the workspace manager manually to get it working.
Tried using another workstations but still the same problem, so its not a hardware or a specific workstation problem. It could be the account's config or other software config that needs modifying. Other users can use the workstations ok without crashing the workspaces. I have the following $HOME/.dt/errorlog message
-------------------------
*** ERROR(4): dtsession: PID 3298: Thu Oct 23 10:14:40 2003
Connection to server lost - exiting.
*** [96]
-------------------------
The dr_dt CDE diagnostics result is the same with the other users.
Thank you so much.
Charlie

Re: cde problem - workspace manager is crashing
Just a shot in the dark but maybe nproc in the kernel isn't high enough.
There might be more in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

Re: cde problem - workspace manager is crashing
Hi Steven,
I've attached the old syslog file. But I don't notice any abnormal message.
Kind Regards,
Charlie
