CDE problem

j5000 hpux11.11. Boot up to a desktop with a cross on the light blue background, and then text screen briefly, and then come back to the blue screen. Each such cycle take about 3 minutes, about 10 cycles, and finally give me the right desktop. It's hard to read the message on the text screen, since it goes away very fast.
What is the problem?

The text displayed during login of CDe is the CPOYRIGHT information of HP.

Are you using DNS or local hosts file.
HOw are the entries in /etc/nsswitch.conf file
