CDE Setting

My CDE on HP-UX 10.2 allows several shells on the desktop.
Launching user applications on CDE with single shell, so that user gets only one screen a GUI seems impossible. Is there a server side Control for this. I teied .dtprofile, .X11hosts in vain

I maybe able to help but you question is rather vague in that I don't know what the problem is.

descibe it like this ....
user logins to CDE , shell = ksh , CDE starts normally, enters CDE file manager , starts "applicationanme" which appears on CDE workspace , etc ....

However re-reading your problem it sounds as if you users may not be able to enter CDE ? Gui impossible .... is this the case ? Is the single screen the CDE failsafe session or the command line ?
