CDROM I/O Error reported

Hello All,

I have an RP3440 server with a DVD-ROM 305 attached. I've just come to mount a CD on this device and I'm getting a I/O error. If I use the diskinfo on /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0 I get the normal info about it being a DVD-ROM. However, if I run diskinfo against /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 I get an I/O error.

Do I have a hardware issue? Or is it software related? Please advise

Re: CDROM I/O Error reported

First thing to consider is a bad media.
Did you try another disc?

If the disc is bootable, you should use "mount -r ..."

Hope this helps!

Shalom,

ioscan -fnC disk

if it says NO_HW for the DVD then its hardware.

If not, try different media, you may just have bad media.

Hardware includes cabling issues just so you are clear.

Re: CDROM I/O Error reported

Thanks Guys. It wasn't a hardware error. More media related. Thanks for your assistance.
