cdrom mount problem

hi

I typed this:
mount -r -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom

the system returns:
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0: Device busy

there is no disk in the cdrom. how can i fix this?

Hi,

You need to put a CD in your CD-ROM in order to mount it.

I did as your advice: putting the cd in the cdrom player and the same thing happenned. I guest it need to be reconfigured... can you help? I just got this server and this is the first time I'm using the cdrom player.

hi,

verify the device file of CDROM:

# ioscan -fnC disk

verify if directory for CDROM to be mounted is created, if not create it.

start to mount:

# mount -F cdfs -o cdcase
e.g. # mount -F cdfs -o cdcase /dev/dsk/c0t2d0 /cdrom

I opened SAM and went to "Disks and File Systems". the CDROM is listed in the File Systems:

/cdrom CDFS /dev/dsk/c0t0d0

clicked on "Actions"->"Add Local File System"->"Not Using the Logical Volume Manager"

SAM responsed "can find unused disk"

I went to "List"->"Disk Devices" here is the description for the cdrom:

10/0/14/0.0.0 1 CDFS -- 0 LITEON CD-ROM LTN485S (READ ONLY)

what shud i do now?

hi,

try a few things:

run "diskinfo -v /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0" to confirm its connected

check that no pfs daemons are using the device "ps -ef | grep pfs"

run "fuser -cu /cdrom"

also, which version of UX is the server on:

# uname -a

hi,

u may need to recreate the device file for the CDROM:

# rm /dev/dsk/c0t0d0
# rm /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
# insf -e
or
# insf -H

verify if device file create:
# ioscan -fnC disk

then try to mount again.

/cdrom is already mounted. Try to do as,

umount /cdrom

or

# mkdir /CDROM
# mount -r -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /CDROM

Hi,

as Muthu already told - you have written:

So the device was already mounted.
Try to umount it 'umount /cdrom'.

You can also try to reboot workstation and then check with SAM, if CDROM is still mounted at /cdrom.

'mount' only can work if the device is not yet mounted.

Hi again,

can you reboot the server?

I would suggest, that you take the cd out of the cdrom, then reboot. The device should not be busy after reboot, as long as there's no cd in it and you don't run automounter.
Then try mounting again.

You also could try to create a new directory and mount to the new dir, this sometimes work for me, but as long as the system says 'dev busy' ... I don't believe that this will work.
