Re: cdrom mount problem

Hi,

You need to put a CD in your CD-ROM in order to mount it.

Re: cdrom mount problem

hi,

verify the device file of CDROM:

# ioscan -fnC disk

verify if directory for CDROM to be mounted is created, if not create it.

start to mount:

# mount -F cdfs -o cdcase
e.g. # mount -F cdfs -o cdcase /dev/dsk/c0t2d0 /cdrom

Re: cdrom mount problem

try a few things:

run "diskinfo -v /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0" to confirm its connected

check that no pfs daemons are using the device "ps -ef | grep pfs"

run "fuser -cu /cdrom"

also, which version of UX is the server on:

# uname -a

Re: cdrom mount problem

hi,

u may need to recreate the device file for the CDROM:

# rm /dev/dsk/c0t0d0
# rm /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
# insf -e
or
# insf -H

verify if device file create:

Re: cdrom mount problem

Hi,

as Muthu already told - you have written:

'I opened SAM and went to "Disks and File Systems". the CDROM is listed in the File Systems:

/cdrom CDFS /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 '

So the device was already mounted.
Try to umount it 'umount /cdrom'.

You can also try to reboot workstation and then check with SAM, if CDROM is still mounted at /cdrom.

'mount' only can work if the device is not yet mounted.

Re: cdrom mount problem

hi all
thanx for all your inputs, i tried all of them and here are the results. by the way, a CDROM is always in the player.

# umount /cdrom
umount: cannot find /cdrom in /etc/mnttab
cannot unmount /cdrom
# more mnttab

# more /dev/dsk/c0t0d0
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0: Device busy

#more # more /etc/pfs_fstab
/etc/pfs_fstab: No such file or directory

=============
pfs_fstab not exist! mnttab also has no definition for the cdrom.

Re: cdrom mount problem

Hi again,

can you reboot the server?

I would suggest, that you take the cd out of the cdrom, then reboot. The device should not be busy after reboot, as long as there's no cd in it and you don't run automounter.
Then try mounting again.

You also could try to create a new directory and mount to the new dir, this sometimes work for me, but as long as the system says 'dev busy' ... I don't believe that this will work.
