Cheap local (external?) storage
Hey all,
Trying to figure out a way we can get some temporary cheap storage attached at will to an RP7420 or RP7410. This would be for Oracle clones, builds, upgrades.
Wondering what others are using out there. The reason I ask is because we have a Clariion SAN with a good amount of idle space that I would like to reallocate to some production apps instead of buying another tray of drives.
As far as I know, HP-UX won't support external USB drives. We have at times needed an extra 500-800MB at the request of our DBA's, and I'd rather not have to keep that much in fiber channel drivespace for a rainy day...
Just curious...
thnx much!

Re: Cheap local (external?) storage
What is your description of cheap?
SCSI attached MSA30 with 2TB is about $10,000

Re: Cheap local (external?) storage
I understand that you just need 500-800 MB additional space. If that's the case why can't u create a LV on the local disk of 1GB, I hope ur internal disks are of size 36GB or more so it shouldn't be an issue ?
Time has a wonderful way of weeding out the trivial

Re: Cheap local (external?) storage
I can't believe my typo...I meant to say 500-800GB!!!
My apologies...
As far as cheap..I was thinking $500-$2000 I think we are going to have to do another tray of drives, anyway, but I'd like to be able to have some scratch storage at the ready.
