cluster lock disk

Im not sure if its a good idea for my cluster lock disk to be on an array disk, but heres my issue.

I just lost an HBA and it just so happens that my cluster disk is on that path. However, there is a pvlink to the alt path.

My question is can I define the alt path in my cluster config file? or does it only allow one disk to be defined, even though it is the same disk?


I have HP onsite looking at the hardware issue, just curious about the semantics of managing the cluster disk.

I have some experience managing the cluster disk, but just not in this scenario.

I don't believe that you can define an alternate link as your second lock disk as MC/SG will have problems with that. Moreover the use of a second cluster lock disk (which is NOT an alternate link to the first lock disk) should be done carefully as it could cause a split-brain syndrome. This may occur when one host can get to only one of the cluster lock disks, but the other host can only get to the other cluster lock disk.

- Locate the alt-path from each nodes point of view - vgdisplay will show it, when the VG is active on each node.

- Edit the cluster configuration file - update the FIRST_CLUSTER_LOCK_PV reference for each node (one per node) with the alt-path special file, ie /dev/dsk/c_t_d_.

- halt the cluster, perform cmapplyconf on the updated file.

your cluster lock disk needs to be visible by both nodes. Not sure if that helps for your first question regarding having it on an array.

You can't put two 9alt) paths into the cluster binary for the lock disk, but to resolve, you can place the working path in now and rebuild.
