cluster upgradation
Hi Admins,
I have running MC SG 2 nodes cluster with version 11.17. Please tell me the steps to upgrade the cluster to later version.
And how to change the package ip of running cluster and need we bring the cluster down while modifying..?
B.11.23 integrity
Regards

Re: cluster upgradation
Steps to upgrade Serviceguard with minimal production downtime are clearly documented in the "Managing Serviceguard" book. Find a PDF version of that book for SG 11.17 here:
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02056249/c02056249.pdf
Please see appendix E (page 435): Rolling Software Upgrades.
> And how to change the package ip of running cluster and need we bring the cluster down while modifying..?
In the same book, please read pages 349-350 (Reconfiguring a package) and pages 354-356 (Allowable package states during reconfiguration).
Also please see pages 341-348 (Reconfiguring a cluster).
If the package IP must change to a different IP subnet, then the package must be halted. If the subnet is not already included in the cluster configuration, you must add it... and for that, the entire cluster must be brought down.
If the package IP only needs to change within the same subnet, then it qualifies as a "Change run script contents" operation. For that, the cluster may be running, but it is recommended that the package is halted.

Re: cluster upgradation
You can do a rolling upgrade to 11.19 at maximum, but be sure to install recent patches because the original 11.19 was a not that trustworthy during rolling upgrade.
