For reasons I have had to create a new set of VGs outside of ServiceGuard. My question is can I remove the old VGs from the SG configuration, and put in the new VGs and then apply the configuration while the cluster is still operational ?

Solution
If you want the volume groups monitored by Serviceguard, then you cannot do this.
The list of volume groups goes in the cluster file as well as the package files.
You may also have to consider a cluster lock disk, if used. Is it on a disk that is part of one of the VGs you want to remove? If so, then you would have two sets of changes.
I suggest that you back up your current cluster config files (ascii and binary), delete the current package and cluster config, then re-create the cluster and packages from scratch, including the new VGs instead. At least you will be able to tidy up the mess in the process.

Re: cmapplyconf question
Thanks Steve I guessed that would be the case.
