Re: cmclnodelist
Whether you put them in /etc/hosts is up to you. If you do, be sure you put *ALL* virtual host names in /etc/hosts on *ALL* systems in the cluster.
I prefer keeping everything in DNS so I don't have to worry about maintaining /etc/hosts on 2 dozen systems.

Aliases associated with relocatable IPs should be listed in /etc/hosts and the DNS name server if any

Re: cmclnodelist
Depends on your environment- we use files dns for hosts in our MC/SG environments - so MC/SG doesn't have to wait for DNS (in case it is down )...

Re: cmclnodelist
/etc/hosts is hostname->IP resolution. Its function if differ with /etc/cmcluster/cmnodelist.
/etc/cmcluster/cmnodelist is file that determine which host have permission to query cluster configuration and apply it.
SO: you must add hostnames in both file

Re: cmclnodelist
Having problems generating the template:
I get errors using cmclnodelist
# cmquerycl -C cluster.conf -n lamarwf1 -n lamarwf2 -n lamarwf3
Error: Permission denied to 10.3.209.15
Error: Permission denied to 10.3.209.16
Error: Permission denied to 127.0.0.1
Error: Unable to establish communication to node lamarwf1: 19
Failed to gather configuration information.
So I tried the .rhosts files and still get errors.

Re: cmclnodelist
and what does the cmclnodelist look like?
Those are Warnings, not erros, telling you that to use discs they need to be configured inside an LVM VG, or a VxVM DG to be used.
The virtual host/ip does not go in the cmclnodelist file, only put it into your hosts file on each node in the cluster, and into your DNS if you use DNS.

Re: cmclnodelist
error: permission denied to 127.0.0.1
1) Non-cluster server names should not be listed in cmclnodelist
2) An invalid (old) /etc/cmcluster/cmclconfig exists on a server
3) Do NOT use IPs in cmclnodelist (particularly after loading the Oct'04 Serviceguard patch

Re: cmclnodelist
Arnold,
What version of MCServiceGuard are you using?
Patch Name: PHSS_32731
Patch Description: s700_800 11.11 Serviceguard A.11.16.00
Creation Date: 05/03/13 [Yesterday!]
Post Date: 05/03/28
A defect was introduced which broke the ability for Serviceguard to handle ip addresses in the cmclnodelist file.
This will result in the customer seeing "Permission Denied" errors in response to commands.
Regards,
David de Beer.
