configuring two interface cards
Hello,
I have hp-ux 11i v2 (B.11.23)
platform: HP integrity rx8640
integrity rx4640
when configuring the two interfaces lan1 and lan2.
lan1: 172.18.5.21
lan2: 172.18.5.23
When I configure the two interfaces as above, I can't have anyone working. althoug showing that they are UP by lanadmin and ifconfig. when I shutdown lan2 I have lan1 working and the server becomes pingable again.
please advise.
Best regards,
Roro.

Re: configuring two interface cards
Hi Roro
Since you are running with interfaces on the same subnet the traffic will attempt to leave your server on the default route. Somehow I suspect that your traffic is being routed internally to the other interface.
With both interfaces running what is the result of netstat -rn

Re: configuring two interface cards
Shalom,
May versions of HP-UX will not support two physical network cards on the same network. This may be fixed in the latest patch sets but simply should not be done.
If you want high availability with two nics on the same subnet, you can get APA, auto port aggregation and this supports it. This is a pay for add in product however.
