In the Linux, open a terminal and say
xhost +
or
xhost
Login to the hpbox
export DISPLAY=
run the application mostly in background.

Simply try to download Xmanager and
install it on your box. Then try to configure it, following the
instructions. This way you will have
Xserver on your PC and then try to
connect to hp-system and start some Xapplication on your Desktop.
