Console Problems

We have an HP9000 K-class server connected to a 700/96 console. When I try to log onto the console I get the following message:
"No lines in buffer"
Alternatively, upon reading my user id and password it would say the following: "oroot is not an editor command"

Please help.

Re: Console Problems

There might be some active session there.

login from some other terminal

#who|grep console

and kill any process running on console.

Re: Console Problems

Hi Elton,

If you can't exit vi, try an hard reset of the console:

Ctrl+Shift+Reset

If the hard reset doesn't work, try turning off the console and turning on while pressing [d]...

Re: Console Problems

Thanx Guys,
There was a session running on the console.
I killed the session and got my console back.
You've earned your points.
What I don't understand is why the console gives a login prompt if there was an active session.

Thanx again.
