control lock

Hi,

1) Is this command 'control lock' is used to disable user login including root? How about thru console login?

2) What is the command to clear the 'control lock' command?

regards.

Re: control lock

That is not a standard command. It sounds as though it is a custom script or program.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: control lock

Hi,

Is there any command or any method to bar the users to login into the system?

Re: control lock

There are many ways to do this but the preferred method is to make a "NOLOGIN=1" entry in /etc/default/security. If the file /etc/nologin exists, non-root users are not allowed to login.

If you are somehow locked out of the system as root, you will probably have to bring the system up in single-user mode. You will then be logged in as root on the console. You can reset root's passwd.
