Controller B has status unknown

Hi all,

I have a L2000 server connected to an FC60 disk array, with two attachments. On of the fibers have been damaged. I have replaced it, link is now good, but when using amdsp, I still see the following warning :
Array Enclosure Controller B: UNKNOWN

I would like to refresh configuration to access FC60 on the 2 links. Is arrayscan my solution ?

Could someone provide a list of things to return to normal situation ?

Regards,

Fred

Re: Controller B has status unknown

I've seen about these arm* commands on the forums, but all I have on my server are am* commands in /opt/hparray and array* commands in /usr/sbin/hpC2400. I don't know where to find armdiscover.

Re: Controller B has status unknown

I have armdiscover command
submit /opt/sanmgr/commandview/client/sbin/ Directory.

One more command I can think of is arrayscan
I am not sure about arrayscan command. It looks for array disks. Try it.

Re: Controller B has status unknown

hi,

amdsp -R will rescan for the arrays

amdsp -i will list all arrays

amdsp -a will show all info on array

ammgr -D arrayalias arrayid if you need to change the alias

if you have just repalced the controller then you may need to do AN
#insf -e again and #ioscan to pick it up.

or in my experience a reboot of the server with the fc60.

Re: Controller B has status unknown

RAC,

no :

>ls -1 /opt/hparray/bin
AM60Srvr
ARMServer
amcfg
amdload
amdsp
amfmt
amlog
ammgr
amutil
arraycfg
arraydsp
arrayfmt
arraylog
arraymgr
arrayrbld
arrayrecover
download
drivetest
dteststat
logprint

Uday,

I do not have /opt/sanmgr. This may be a problem :/

Andrew,

I should have thought of ioscan :o
Reboot should be consider as the "last-chance-to-make-it-work" solution.

Re: Controller B has status unknown

hi fred,

one more for you

ammgr -c AA if you want to set both controllers to active instead of
A active
B passive

Re: Controller B has status unknown

/opt/sanmgr seems to be provided in a licenced software package and shipped with VA74XX SANs.

I may have to do without it.

Re: Controller B has status unknown

ioscan/insf process wasn't successful. Controller status is always marked unknown.

Re: Controller B has status unknown

It worked. ioscan/insf process may have generated some check-up in the config. Controller have been refreshed some time after I proceed.

Sorry Andrew for this bunnyless solution. Answer to get it :)
