Converting to Trusted systems

I have HPUX 11.00 which I want to upgrade to 11i V1 running on a T500.

1) Should I convert to Trusted and then upgrade to 11iV1, or should I upgrade to 11iV1 and then convert to Trusted.

2) Is there a PDF/Doc on converting to trusted, or a best practice Doc.

-thank you

Re: Converting to Trusted systems

I would suggest cold installing 11i, the upgrade process can be problematic at best. Then convert to trusted. The easiest, safest method is to use SAM to trust the system.

Re: Converting to Trusted systems

Hey Doug,

It does not matter if you covert to trusted before or after. Using SAM>security defaults ( will prompt if you wish to convert ). You can always unconvert with same SAM menu action.

Not that you asked but. Upgrading HPUX releases has always been unreliable. I.e. roll the dice and it might work. If it doesn't then your system is left un-usable.

You will find 90% of the opinion is to cold install especially with these older versions.

Make sure you have at lease two good make_tape_recoveries before you start.

Good luck.

I will install new and not worry about the upgrade and un-stablity
