Copy dependency software to another server.
Dear all,
I would like copy (or make a depot of )a software from a server1 to server2 both are runnig hp-ux 11.23 OS.
The software in the /opt directory and has dependencies.
Is there a easy way to do this?
I have tried to tar en untar the /opt/ directory from server1 to server2
but this doesn't work for the dependencies of the software.
I have also been reading swcopy and swpackage but I think that they require
depot to create a depot.
Does anyone have experience with swcopy and swpackage or a software that
do the above?
The reason for copyong software is because the previous version of this software
is not available anymore on the hp-ux download site and te latest version
of has made enormous change in the configuration.
CAn anyone help me with this?
thx,
Kind Regards

Re: Copy dependency software to another server.
Once the software is installed, there are no supported commands to make a depot out of it.
You would have to manually fiddle/copy the info in the IPD to your new system.

Re: Copy dependency software to another server.
Shalom,
The original depot is required. Most software provided in depots installs files in more than just /opt.
Even if you could copy the software to another system it would not be in the sd/ux database and there fore not checked for dependencies and other issues. What you are asking to do will not be good for the system that receives the software/
