Server = D350 OS 11.11
user is on a UNIX box, user was running a sales tax report with the taxware software on the soptxa01 and got the error server memory fault core dump.

I did a file and what on the core file:

file core:
core: core file from tax030 - received SIGSEGV

What core:
core:
HP-UX libm shared PA1.1 C Math Library 20000331 (201031) UX11.01
$ PATCH_11.11/PHCO_29029 Jun 27 2003 12:26:57 $
SMART_BIND
92453-07 dld dld dld.sl B.11.18 000922

Any ideas what this means? Does this means that this patch is outdated?

Re: Core File

I can tell you my understanding - segmentation voilation fault usually occurs when your process is exceeding one of the segment size limits (data,text or stack).

Re: Core File

You are reading something into the what output that is not really there just as doing a "strings" on the core file is not really helpful.

To get useful data from a core file, you really need to run the corefile through a debugger and do a stack trace. That will tell you where in the execution the actual segmentation violation occurred.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Core File

Hi
Try if you have any debugger installed on your system like "gdb" for example which is there in almost all H-UX sustems (/opt/langtools/bin/gdb) , then run a command gdb -c core and see from where the core was generated .
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go
