Its difficult to read core files however if you want to view a glimpse of it you can do strings core and it will show you some infos. Hope this helps. thanks

Most important info. is the interrupt signal, like SIGBUS.
This tells a lot sometimes. For example, sometimes a bad kernel value.

you can use 'file core' to find out the source.
you need to have the latest patch bundles to resolve many of the core dumps.
Also you can use debuggers like gdb/wdb to analyse the core file.

There is information about system failure in cores. You could read it, but first need to convert it:
1. #crashutil -v COREFILE /var/adm/crash/crash.0 /tmp/corefile /tmp/kernfile
Then:
2. #adb -k kernfile corefile or:
#dmesg COREFILE kernfile

If you get lots of core files or you suddenly start getting them when you didn't before then you should investigate why you are getting them as specified above, however, in the general case, you can just remove them.
