Correct sequence to clone system

Hi HPUX experts,
New year wishes to all.
I wanted to clone one of my rx8640 to image from existing old rx8640 server.
Both servers are already added in ignite server.
I am able to initiate ignite restoration in GUI mode. It is showing me standerd 11.23 golden image configuration under basic ignite recory tab. I want it should also show image of old rx8640 server.
Please correct me if only copying file /var/opt/ignite/clients//CINDEX to location /var/opt/ignite/clients//CINDEX is sufficient to make stored image visible for new installation or to clone system.

Please send me if you have any procedure for cloning. That will be helpful.

Thanks to all
Regards
Satish

Re: Correct sequence to clone system

It is ALL explained in Section 11.2 of the IGNITE-UX FAQ which should be on your system at /opt/ignite/share/doc/FAQ.

Let us know if you can't make out of the instructions there.

Re: Correct sequence to clone system

Hey;

It's also available in the ignite ux admin guide, in checklist format, on page 237. The admin guide is available at http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01942571/c01942571.pdf

Re: Correct sequence to clone system

Hi All,

Thanks for your responses
I have gone through these docs, as mentioned in docs -
1. copy CINDEX file to target location
2. export archive image to new client
3. follow normal recovery process.

I have not tried it yet..but wanted to try on production system in next week. So like to confirm if any additional step required.

Re: Correct sequence to clone system

That is pretty much it sir.
Just follow what is in the FAQ and you can't go wrong sir.

And surely you know already NFS, LAN Address, etc -- right?

Good Luck.

Re: Correct sequence to clone system

I believe you also need to copy /var/opt/ignite/clients/old_mac/recovery

I typically cd to the old_mac then..

find CINDEX recovery|cpio -pvmd ../new_mac/

./recovery/latest/archive_cfg has all the config info on where to find the image and swinstall details etc...

in the case of cloning it would point to /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/source_host/
