Corrupted disk boot ignite for reload

I can reload a system that is talking. How do I reload a blank system or corrupted system? How do I tell the ignite server my ip? I don't want to use dhcp. To solve my current corrupted disk I installed from cd, added network information and then reloaded my image from ignite.
UNIX is the only OS

Re: Corrupted disk boot ignite for reload

Recovering from a root disk replacement can be done with a bootable DDS tape or over the network with make_net_recovery. However, only newer machines can boot directly from the LAN. The latest version of Ignite/UX can create a bootable tape that provides the mini-opsystem needed to communicate with the Ignite server and select the image to loaad.

Re: Corrupted disk boot ignite for reload

Beside the ignite tape with make_recovery and network, you can try to boot from the installation cdrom or Diagnostics cd. Interact with IPL>N, go to Run a Recovery Shell, next select "Recover an unbootable HP-UX system"... It will go step by step... If still have problem, come back with details.

Re: Corrupted disk boot ignite for reload

You can boot/install from a make_recovery or make_net_recovery tape create through ignite which will perform a non-interactive installation provided the H/W configuration on the tape is the same as the server otherwise you have to do an interactive installation.
