Cpu activity by graphics?

I want to get a graphic output of the cpu and disk i/o activity. I was asked to monitor the resources and submit reports on the server cpu. However, I think running commands like SAR will give you a bunch of numbers, and it would be easier to get some graphics of the utilization of CPU. Anyone got any experience with this? I looked in SAM (11.0 N-class) and under Performance Monitor/GlancePlus I get graphs of the system activity now, not from a total of say 1 week ago. Is there any other way to collect system performance over say a week and submit a report (besides all numbers from SAR)? Thanks,Jim

Hello,

If you have perfview then it would be easy. From perfview you can get graphs of current as well as history details of cpu , disk, memory etc..

To see realtime , you can use glance gui edition (gpm)

These is a 60 days trial version is available on application CD's If you like then you need to buy this product from HP..

The product you are looking for is called Perfview and will plot CPU, Disk, Network, and essentially anything you want over any period of time. It is an addon product to MeasureWare.

We do have Measureware. How do we know if we do have PerfView? I came here and some time ago I found out we had Measureware. Don't know much about it so will have to pick up on its capabilities.

If we don't have Perfview, then I guess the numbers game will do here :-)

There are 3 ways to do it :

1. GPM give a realtime display in terms of graphs and colors.

2. Perfview with this u can store data for long and use it to reference. Also u can collect specific data for proceeses. etc.

3. There is a utlity called as sarcheck it can be had for trial version of 30 days from www.sarcheck.com which also does a wondeful job. I am ataching a typical sarcheck report of one of my systems , incase u want to look at.
