D220 HPUX install problem
I am having trouble installing HPUX 11.0 on a D220 machine. From PDC I boot from the CD. The system is supposed to display a screen showing server h/w summary with choices for installing or recovering the OS but it does not stop there instead it continues and goes to the recovery menu. I tried this several times and every time I had this problem.
I am using Windows 2000 hyper terminal set to VT100, 9600/0/1/None.....
Please help..............

Re: D220 HPUX install problem
I have always had better luck installing from regular HP terminal connected directly to the machine.

Re: D220 HPUX install problem
export TERM=hp
export TERM=70096
Also, please post the exact name and product number of the cd.

Re: D220 HPUX install problem
The only way the Ignite Interface will work right is if the TERM type is hp.

Re: D220 HPUX install problem
I might be going mad... but my experience of Ignite is the you HAVE TO HAVE terminal EMULATING vt100 or em100 (ctrl+Scroll-Lock). ALSO there is no shell, so things like "export TERM=xyz" is not possible, you are in the PDC/ISL "shell" & then the Ignite "recovery shell", none of which do you get the chance to set TERM parameter.....
On a different tack...
how are you booting the system?
1a - booot
1b - reply N to interacting with ISL
OR
2a - boot
2b - reply y to interacting with ISL
2c - hpux :INSTALL
I generally have more success with the second method as I've seen the first fail for various reasons.
