dds2 tape backup

hi guys,

can a DDS3 cartridge be used for backup using a DDS2 tape drive?

No,

DDS2 drives can hold DDS2 or DDS1 tapes ONLY.

You cannot use a DDS3 cartridge in a DDS2 Drive, DDS 2 Supports only DDS2 and DDS Cartridges. DDS2 Drive won't allow you to load a DDS3 cartridge. It will eject the media.

You will find that some tapes are not supported and some are. For your drive you cannot use a tape that is designed for a later model tape drive.

Drive Tape
DCL-Z 60M
DDS 90M
DDS2 120M
DDS3 125M
DDS4 150M

Now, each drive will support at least two tape versions behind. e.g. A 90M, 120 and 125 M tape will work in a DDS3 drive.
