I have Sybase running on a K series server (HP-UX 10.20) and would like to know exactly how much memory it is using. How can I do this?

SolutionInstall Glance from the HP Applications CD. This will give you a 3 month free trial. Run the graphical version, gpm, and it has detailed memory menus and process menus which will show you exactly what is using what. This is the easiest and most comprehensive way to calculate it.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: Determining memory usage
With most commercial database products, there is not a single answer since there is seldom a single program involved. Often there is a central coordination program that set aside a section of shared memory used by any different programs. So a single answer is not always useful. Also, the amount of RAM used by database programs is usually configurable, generally, more memory means higher performance.
