/dev/cots ????

Hi All

I'm installing some network management software, not sure fully of the ins and out of it. I have it on a J6000 all running fine, I also have installed it on a J5000, but it will not start. it is complaining about comms and the /dev/cots driver not being available.

I have created the /dev/cots using mknod, and the software now complains: No such device.

What is /dev/cots ??? What hardware does this need?

This was created as default on the J6000 machine and I have installed it on many other J class machines, so could it be that the hardware in the J5000 does not have this functionality?

Thanks in Advance

What is the OS of the servers?

I thought that /dev/cots was a HPUX 10.20
device file.

Re: /dev/cots ????

Sorry its - HPUX 11.00,

I've removed it from the J6000 and rebooted and the os has automatically re-created the file. The file is in the Kernel on the J5000.
