Re: device files in /dev/dsk
Sounds like you have EMC PowerPath installed.
I have them too.

Re: device files in /dev/dsk
lsdev will show you that the major number is probably sctl. A driver usually used for th Initiator of the SCSI bus.
You could try a 'lssf /dev/dsk/c112t0d5.pt' to see if it gives any info.
Regards,
Trond

Re: device files in /dev/dsk
"The .pt files are created by the diskmond for use with the SCSI Pass-Thru driver. The .pt files are necessary for the diskmond to gather monitor information for the disks. The diskmond monitor will use the .pt files to access the SCSI Pass-Thru driver. The monitor uses the Pass-Thru driver to collect status information.
If you do not plan to use the HA diskmond monitor, they can be removed. You can use the rmsf or the rm commands to remove the files. However if you plan to use the HA diskmond monitor, then the files are necessary. If the files do not exist, the disk monitor will recreate the .pt files each time it needs to collect the disk status for the monitor."
