I was asked to disable tftp. here is what i am going to do..
Edit the inetd.conf file and comment tftp and inetd -c.

is this correct? to the best of my knowledge we do not use tftp, but in case we do how to check it?

Thanks

Re: disable tftp

Yes that will do the trick. You actually need to disable the tfptd daemon.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: disable tftp

You have done it right.

To test it, you should attempt a tftp connection to this server. The connection should time out.

If you store Ignite images on this server, you may need to re-enable tftp to push the Ignite mini image to Ignite clients. If not, I can think of no other valid reason to be able to tftp.

Re: disable tftp

Hi Brian,

tftp is only used by ignite server. you can diable tftp. On the ignite server you need to leave the tftp service on.

Hope this helps.

Re: disable tftp

Hi Brian,
yes it is correct.

And how to check whether tftp wsas used ?

I suppose check the log in /var/adm/log

check the tftp log or messages or allmessages

every connection should be logged there
