Disabling/enabling CPU

Hi,
Would like to know if there are ways to disable/enable Processors on HPUX 10.20 and HP UX 11.0 using a script or specific command?
Many thanks

Re: Disabling/enabling CPU

Hi Monique,

Nope, sorry, unlike Sun which can disable/enable CPUs on th fly, this can only be done on HPs at boot time from the BCH prompt.
You issue a CPU X off/on command where X=cpu#
So disable takes a boot as well as enable.

Re: Disabling/enabling CPU

This can only be done through the GSP.

here's a link for 10.x:

http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000065953444

and from an HP3000 doc ( should still pertain):

http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000063198847

Hope this helps

Re: Disabling/enabling CPU

Hi

Unless you have newer RP* series systems and have iCOD (instant Capacity on Demand) software, it is not possible to disable/enable processors online.

You will need to go to BCH prompt and then do it. THe commands may vary depending upon the hardware you have.
